Training: Health System Strengthening & Service Delivery Skills

MPPR recognizes the importance of health system strengthening in improving sexual reproductive health of women, men, and youths in Myanmar. To improve health commodity security, MPPR collaborated with JSI & Pathfinder to conduct the Training of Trainers for logistics system strengthening in Southern Shan State in June 2016. Following cascade trainings and gathering information with the upgraded system, about 35,000 reproductive health commodity items were redistributed within Southern Shan State.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sports and partners, MPPR organizes training for health workers to upgrade their service delivery skills. For example, in 2016, MPPR held multiplier training for Contraceptive Implant in Southern Shan State with PSI in preparation for the introduction of the new commodity in the country. Working with Pathfinder International, MPPR also has provided sessions for family planning counseling practices with midwives and auxiliary midwives in Shan and Kayin States.

When women in the village came to my home, I explained about contraceptives using the cue card I received from the training. It was very useful because clients could see contraceptives and decide which one was suitable for them. I also gave the IEC fans with explanations on it to women who were interested. They would not read pamphlets, but liked the fan. They were very happy.
